In Ontario, the Insurance Act determines the standard, mandatory coverage that consumers must purchase. Beginning September 1, 2010, the Ontario government is introducing significant reforms to the auto insurance system that will offer more choice when it comes to selecting automobile coverage that best meets your individual needs. If you are either buying a new auto insurance policy or renewing an existing one, you must choose a level of coverage that makes sense for you.
